About Us

Research shows that girls involved in youth development activities, such as after school programs, career counseling, extra-curricular activities, sports, community service and school clubs are less likely to take part in negative activities. These pro-social activities impart to girls a greater sense of responsibility, social connection, and hope for a successful independent future. (Harlap, 1991)

Because I’m Beautiful Girls Club, Inc. was established in 2004 by Octavia Kearney with the sole purpose of empowering girls for the future.  Since its inception the organization has housed the program in over seven schools in the Broward, Miami-Dade, and Port St. Lucie counties.  B.I.B’s success has been documented by the participants, parents, educators, counselors, and principals from the various schools.

B.I.B Girls Club is an organization that provides a year round preventive program that meets bi-weekly in participating schools.  The S.U.P.A. (Self-worth and Uniqueness Promotes Abstinence) program’s goal is to build self-esteem and confidence as well as promote abstinence and develop skills/practices for positive decision-making in adverse situations. Participants learn skills through interesting educational activities using the B.I.B curriculum, interactive workshops with special guest speakers and participate in community service activities.

The organization has been recognized by the Broward Social Workers Association, Miami –Dade County Public school’s Spot Success Award, and has earned a Community Service Award.

B.I.B is recognized and highly recommended as an age appropriate program for elementary school level female students.
